Well, here we are at home in Mississippi. But, before I go into any details, let me catch you up on our departure from Maine and our trip home.
We started packing the motorhome and closing up the camp on the weekend of 2/3 Aug. Well, on Saturday it started raining, actually pouring, and it rained for about 6 hours. That put a crimp in our packing and departure. We got up on Sunday morning and moved the dock down to the cove and continued on with packing and closing. Unfortunately the Saturday rains had set us behind. We didn't leave on the scheduled Monday morning but did finish by the end of the day. We went to bed with the idea of departing early Tuesday morning.
After a good night sleep, we had breakfast with Joyce and went out to the vehicles to get started. Surprise - the Dodge truck had a completely flat tire. We got the compressor out, filled the tire with air and took it to Hogan's Tires. They found a sharp rock had penetrated the tire and overall recommended we replace all the tires since dry rot was setting in. Needless to say we had them all replaced and finally rolled out about 1:00P.M.
We set ourselves a goal of getting to Hanscom AFB Family Camp and there we stayed for the night. The following days were equally boring - since both of us were driving a vehicle there was no rest relief resulting in two very, very tired people each night we stopped. We arrived at the house on Friday evening about 7:30P.M.
What a great feeling to be home. The house was clean and cool - that didn't last long the next day when we started unpacking the motorhome. Mulligan was excited and ran around the house to sniff all her things!
We saw Edith the day before we left and she looked good. She smiled and played with Mulligan and we tried to explain we would see her soon. It's always difficult to leave.
I had exactly a weekend before starting work and I have decided that was not enough! Anyway, our first week home has been good - work is great and I started school this past Thursday. I have classes on Tuesday and Thursday and work Monday, Wednesday and Friday. A full week. Ken starts school next week and has classes every day.
Well, it seems we are all back in sync with our lives and I'll keep you posted as the days go by!
