What's Up?

Well, how pathetic am I...my blog has lapsed and I have no excuse! I think it is because of Facebook - after checking FB and updating once in a while, I don't have anything left to say. Thats not exactly true! I always have plenty to say. So here is the past 6 months in one update.
In May we left for Maine. It was a great summer and fabulous things were done to the camp. The boathouse got a new roof and I finally got a new set of steps on the back door! It was the most relaxing summer I have ever had in Maine. We returned to Mississippi so I could return to school. Ken returned to Maine for a couple extra months. In October we zoomed over to Cabo and had a ball for a week. I do love those swim up bars in the pools! This time we incorporated some deep sea fishing, trip to La Paz, kayaking, and a terrific Saturday at the Spa! The deep sea fishing convinced me I deserved the spa - got a little sea sick.
We stayed home for the fall and holidays. Our friends Lois and Ashley came for Thanksgiving, we all ate at the neighbor's and then drove to my sister in Tupelo. Great food and great company. Christmas was wonderful and it snowed! How terrific is that? Overall the winter has been a little colder than normal but nothing like the pounding Maine has received this year.
School in the fall was a little more difficult for me. I actually dropped a class but redeemed myself by taking a condensed College Algebra class that just about did me in. I passed it and immediately declared that if I ever get a tatoo, it will be :"I passed College Algebra". It was interesting but a killer. Anyway, its another core requirement over and done with. I am now down to 5 remaining classes for my degree. Most are science classes so it may be a little slow going.
This semester I am taking World Cuisine and Food Microbiology. I now have 3 classes remaining and I am very, very excited.
There has been lots going on at home. The house has a new, grey, metal roof; all new windows and the most beautiful grey and white vinyl siding! WoW. What a difference it makes to the overall look of our home. Hopefully this will be the last time we have to worry about the outside of the house. Inside we made some significant changes. The dining room was moved to one end of the sun room and celebrated with a new dining room table, chairs, and on a whim, a new hutch. The table is for older people - counter height. We are really enjoying it and actually use it every day.
The dining room became the office. I decided I really needed a place for all that paper work we accumulate. Ken's desk area is at one end of the living room and we updated it with some cabinets from Ikea.
Speaking of Ikea, we took a road trip to Atlanta to go to Ikea the week after Christmas. I do love Ikea and want someone to open one in Memphis! January has come and as of today, gone. It has been a great opening to 2011 and I will try, try, try to update my blog more - not that anyone actually reads it!

Happy New Year.

Where has the time gone...

I haven't blogged since Feb...what's up with that! We have been busy with school and work. This is the last week of school for me - finals. Ken wrapped his up last week. The past two weekend have been storm and tornado and systems coming through - been a bit scary at times! Luckily we have a closet under the stairs to hide in...at least for Mulligan and I! Ken wants to be the lookout!
We will be getting ready for the summer and all the great activities going on during the hot months. There will be some traveling and kayaking and other assorted activities! We have the RV road ready and look forward to some mini trips!
That is all the news for now. My grandsons are growing like weeds and are just as cute as they can be! Can't wait to see them soon. Love and hugs to all!

The Middle of Winter!

Hi friends and family!  Here it is the middle of winter and rather cold in Mississippi!  Nothing new really to report - same old, same old!  We really are a boring family!  School is going great for both of us.  Another semester and we will have more credits - I am not sure why or what for, but it will all come together in the end!  This week I have 3 tests so I get stressed out just thinking about it!  Looking forward to spring break so I can visit my little angels in CA!
Well, I won't bore you with the mundane, later, later.

Outrageous!

It is outrageous that I have not blogged for over 2 months. What am I thinking? So much has happened. The children and grandchildren came home for Thanksgiving, we all went to Cabo San Lucas and Ken and I are presently in England! Whew...we have been really busy.
School finished on a good note. We start again in January. We've just spent a week with my family in England and had the most wonderful time. Arrived in London this morning and will be here for 48 hours.
Must go - really will report more later.

The Seasons are Rotating...Fall is here!

Its been all fun and games at the Gipson house!  Rain, then more rain and finally it rained even harder!  Then when the rain stopped, the cold weather moved in.  It was wonderful to move out the heat and humidity for some cool dry air.  That lasted a few days and then the rain came back!  Lets start building that ark - I am afraid the hill is going to dissolve and the house will slide down and over!
The house is getting into order for the up coming holidays.  I think my children are coming and bringing their children with them!  It will be wonderful.  The bedrooms are 95% in order and moving along daily.  I had hoped to get to Ikea and purchase some organizational furniture but I just couldn't do the drive this past week.  I had already driven to Birmingham for the hair/skin show and then the next day I drove to Tuscaloosa to the VA and then a couple days later I drove first to Columbus and then backtracked to Tupelo to go to the Celebration Village.  I was just tired of driving...
School is coming along for both of us.  I really admire Ken for taking all those online classes - it causes him stress at times.  I have really enjoyed taking just one class but just signed up to take 4 classes next semester and a Saturday class - I must be crazy!
That is all the news from the hill for now.  Later.

Fall Has Arrived in Mississippi!

Things are plodding along at the Gipson household!  We are busy as usual doing nothing of any interest to anyone but ourselves!  Work and school are good.  Some work is being done on our house - the floors are being replaced on the second floor.  Half has been completed and they are returning tomorrow to finish - hopefully.  2 bedrooms are an absolute mess and one is empty of anything.  Its like moving house all over again but sorely needed after being in the house for 5 years.
I moved the sewing/art room to the back bedroom and it is smaller than the front bedroom so my artistic talents will take place in a very small and possibly cramped room... Definitely time to get rid of stuff... Yea, like that is going to happen soon!
Then there is the case of the closet.  We both need to get rid of clothing.  Right now it is all piled on our bed and we definitely have too many clothes.  Again, move it!
It is raining and raining and raining.  We had a couple of dry days and now it has rained all day today.  Hope it stops by tomorrow... Cross your fingers.
    Thats it for now.  Later.

Family Wedding Upcoming and Other Things!

Well, another month since my last posting!  My goodness how the time it does fly!  So much stuff has happened.  The most recent is that tomorrow I am driving to Iowa with my sisters Brenda and Barbara.  My sister Belinda is getting married to her sweetheart who, just 2 months ago, had a massive heart attack and wasn't thought to survive!  Wow - Bill has come a long way.  Now he is marrying Belinda, the third of the five sisters.  The trip will be a lot of fun and I look forward to it.
In the past two weeks we got carried away with house renovations.  Two bedrooms have been painted, flooring is being installed and new window treatments and baseboards.  The upstairs is in disarray but it will be straightened out as soon as there is a floor!  We keep running into things in our bedroom since that is where most of the stuff was relocated.
The shed looks good now that it is completely painted.  Next we have to think about the outside of the house.
School is going great for both of us.  Ken is working on three on line classes so he has got lots going on.  My one class is working great for me along with the couple days work.
Mulligan is doing great - she works constantly to make us feel guilty about leaving her at home!  What a cutie...
      Later!
